Would you like a health-status update?! Well! Here’s one coming at you!
Had our second doc appointment today.
Things overall – not too great. The word he used is “compromised”.
Thanks to the wonderful nausea, especially on bad days like yesterday (which ensured I looked extra horrible today) – I’ve actually lost 5 pounds. Instead of telling him Hi when he walked in the room I informed him he has GOT to hook me up with some drugs for this horrible condition.
He ordered a stat blood chemistry panel – to check for electrolytes, so I’m waiting on the results of that. If it’s bad, he’s going to make me come in to the emergency room today to get an IV for fluids and electrolytes =(
But I’ve been better overall, and I felt like I was gaining some weight. I guess this whole nausea ordeal has been much worse that I realized.
Thankfully, the medicine seems to be helping, and hopefully I won’t have to go anywhere today.
He was also trying to hear the baby’s heartbeat with the doppler instrument. Weird little thing, and not very pleasant because he kept looking around with it and pushing down pretty hard =( Got hubbs all worried because we couldn’t really hear anything. But he wheeled in an ultrasound machine and there was our squirmy little guy, floating around, heart beating, taking up all this room on the monitor! With a beautiful spine and a nice big head! Hubby said – “still looks like a giant sperm”… Well, we know what gender came up with the theory of preformationism! You see, the bright male minds of developing science back in the day, way back, from even Pythagoras, supported by Van Leeuwenhoek, whom we credit with the invention of the microscope, believed that inside each sperm was a tiny, fully formed human. And the only thing the mother had to do was incubate. Well too bad now we know the only thing a sperm cell carries is half the genetic code and enough energy storage to make its trip, plus a couple digesting enzymes to burrow through the egg cell membrane.
Interesting that women release 1-2 eggs a month while men make thousands of sperm a day… Who’s more efficient here? =)
But I digress. In honor of St. Valentine’s day I’d like to honor my loved guys in my life!
First off – my wonderful husband Tony, so amazing and so awesome. Though I understand you can’t work from home to make me fancy breakfasts everyday like they have on tv and in movies – with the nice tray in bed, an airplane size glass of juice, fancy plates with toasted croissants and a tiny vase with a single flower… I would rather have all the other things you do for me! I really appreciate them all! Not only did you help me make this baby, but you’re always there, helping me out. I especially appreciate you carrying all my crap everytime we go to the doctor, or anywhere else. AND I applaud your patience for all my kitchen and grocery store run requests. AND if I’m not feeling well – you tell me to sit down and chill, and you make dinner!! To me those are all the characteristics of a super-human gentleman!
And last but not least, I’d like to acknowledge and thank our fuzzy wuzzy dog Misha. He may be a little blind and crazy, but he seems to know when I’m not feeling well, and he is willing to wait patiently, lying gently beside me and warming me up, until I feel well enough to get up and take him out. Which sometimes happens pretty late. He’s a trooper! If only he could lightly toast croissants and bring them to me in bed without eating them first… =) Maybe one day!
Now I clearly gotta go get some croissants somewhere… Happy Valentine’s day to everyone, seems to be a very big deal online. So – I want to wish everyone something, listen up: I want all of you to find that wonderful, life-encompassing love that I know exists. And to do that you need to not sit around waiting for it, believing that “someday my turn will come *sob sob*”. You need to prepare yourself, make yourself worthy of being loved, make yourself deserve the love that you want, and then go out there and look for it, and don’t settle for anything less because you’ll just be wasting precious time!
That’s all I got. <3
